The wear-resistant liner used in the feeding trough and silo of the blast furnace of the steelmaking plant is impacted by the mineral raw materials falling at a certain height every day. The main damage method is not only the abrasive wear of the mineral raw materials but also the fracture caused by the impact, which makes the steel mills have to replace the wear-resistant steel plates frequently, resulting in an increase in production costs, so the liner is required to have high wear resistance at the same time , Also requires a certain degree of toughness. As a pair of contradictory attributes, wear resistance and strength and toughness, the improvement party has to sacrifice the other party, and at the same time, it is very difficult to improve both attributes. When the hardness of the liner material is above 62HRC, the impact toughness is generally between 5.0~7.0 J/cm2, and it is difficult to break 7.5 J/cm2. The liner materials used in a steel plant’s new blast furnace continue to rely on outsourcing from wear-resistant liner manufacturers (the supplier’s material code is 6# alloy, with impact toughness (ak) >7.8J/cm2). EB China was commissioned by it. Develop a new type of self-developed composite wear-resistant liner that meets customer needs. The target requirements are: impact toughness (ak) >8.0J/cm2, functional hardness >62HRC.
According to the usual use of wear-resistant liners, referring to relevant international documents, and considering the economic applicability of the finished product, we decided to use high-chromium cast iron surfacing wear-resistant plates with 15% Cr. The traditional material is Cr15Mo3. Improve it. When the Cr/C ratio is between 5.0-6.0, it can ensure that the material composition is in the hypoeutectic range and all the carbides are (Cr, Fe) 7C s type with high hardness, good volatility and absolutely excellent shape. After a year of use, the wear-resistant plate has obtained customer satisfaction.
