Properties and uses of 316 stainless steel electrode
Latest company news about Properties and uses of 316 stainless steel electrode

1. Brief description of stainless steel electrode:

Stainless steel electrode refers to a kind of electrode coated with stainless steel materials. There should be differences in the coated materials. We can divide it into two types of stainless steel electrodes. Generally composed of welding core and coating.

2.316 stainless steel chemical composition:

Composition C Si Mn P S Ni Cr Mo
316 0.08 ≤1.0 ≤2.0 ≤0.045 ≤0.03 10.0-14.0 16.0-18.0 2.0-3.0

3.The performance of stainless steel:

316 stainless steel has good welding performance. All standard welding methods can be used for welding. Depending on the application, 316Cb, 316L or 309Cb stainless steel filler rods or welding rods can be used for welding. In order to obtain the best corrosion resistance, the welding section of 316 stainless steel needs to be annealed after welding. If 316L stainless steel is used, post-weld annealing is not required.

In addition to meeting the general welding process performance and welding joint mechanical properties, the stainless steel electrode must also ensure that the welding joint can meet certain corrosion resistance requirements. For coatings and welding cores, the following requirements are usually considered:

1) Through the welding core and the coating transition of various alloy elements, the weld metal has a certain amount of austenite and ferrite structure to ensure that the weld metal has both good crack resistance and good resistance Corrosion ability of the corresponding medium.

2) Through the welding core or coating, a certain amount of carbide forming elements (such as niobium, molybdenum, titanium, etc.) can penetrate into the weld metal to form a stable carbide with carbon to prevent the formation of chromium carbonization at the grain boundary Thing.

3) The increase of carbon will promote the intergranular corrosion of the weld of austenitic stainless steel (or ferritic stainless steel), so the carbon content in the welding core and the raw material of the coating must be strictly controlled. It is recommended to use low carbon or ultra Low-carbon welding core uses low-carbon or non-carbon iron alloys and metal elements as raw materials for the coating.

4) Strictly control the sulfur and phosphorus content in the stainless steel welding core and coating to reduce the risk of hot cracks in the weld.

4.Use of 316 stainless steel welding rods:

Stainless steel electrodes are very widely used in the field of mechanical manufacturing, because stainless steel electrodes have good corrosion resistance and heat resistance. Not only in the field of machinery manufacturing, but also in chemical, fertilizer, petroleum, medical machinery manufacturing and other industries have a wide range of applications.
