Product Overview
Metal linings provide high strength and excellent wear resistance, making them ideal for ball mills processing hard materials such as ore and metal slag. These are currently the most widely used type of industrial liners.
1. High Manganese Steel Lining
Composition: 10%-14% manganese content, 1.0%-1.4% carbon content, austenitic steel
Features: Excellent toughness with work hardening capability under strong impact or extrusion. Surface hardness increases significantly (from HB200 to HB500+) while maintaining core toughness. Superior impact resistance suitable for processing large materials or high-impact conditions like grate ball mills.
Limitations: Poor work hardening effect in low-impact, low-stress wear environments. Higher cost and limited welding performance.
Applicable Scenarios: Coarse and medium grinding stages, ball mills processing hard rocks including granite and iron ore.
2. High Chromium Cast Iron Lining
Composition: 15%-30% chromium, 2.0%-3.5% carbon, white cast iron with Cr7C3 hard phase structure
Features: Extreme hardness (HRC55-65) with wear resistance 3-5 times higher than high manganese steel. Outstanding resistance to low stress sliding wear. Better corrosion resistance than high manganese steel, suitable for sulfur-containing and acidic materials.
Limitations: High brittleness with poor impact resistance, prone to breaking under high impact conditions.
Applicable Scenarios: Fine grinding stage, low impact conditions (overflow ball mill), processing medium hard materials like cement clinker and limestone.
3. Low Alloy Steel Lining
Composition: Alloy elements including Cr, Mo, Ni, V (total content <5%) added to carbon steel, balanced through heat treatment
Features: Excellent overall performance with hardness (HRC35-50) and toughness between high manganese steel and high chromium cast iron. Composition adjustable according to working conditions. Lower cost than high chromium cast iron with better welding performance.
Common Types: Chromium-molybdenum steel for good wear resistance and hardenability; Nickel-hard cast iron with 3%-5% nickel content.
Applicable Scenarios: Medium impact and wear conditions, general ball mills in mineral processing and building materials industries.
