Features
- Outstanding corrosion resistance: Excellent resistance to seawater, chlorides, hydrofluoric acid, sulfuric acid (<85%), hot concentrated alkalis, and salt solutions
- Marine-grade performance: Extremely low corrosion rate (<0.025mm/a) in flowing seawater; resists pitting, crevice & stress corrosion cracking
- Wide temperature stability: Maintains properties from cryogenic (-196°C) up to 550-600°C
- High mechanical strength: Tensile strength ≥450MPa, yield strength ≥170MPa, elongation ≥30%
- Good weldability & machinability: Suitable for various welding processes; easy to machine to tight tolerances
- Austenitic single-phase structure: Uniform microstructure, stable long-term performance
Limitations
- Higher material cost compared to carbon steel & standard stainless steel
- Attacked rapidly by nitric acid, oxidizing acids & ammonia systems
